Celebrating 30 years in 15 days: Day 5–Whales, Whales, Whales
Whales at Icy Point Strait, Alaska
We spent Day 5 of our 30th anniversary trip at Icy Point Strait. We visited the fishing village of Hoonah and ate fresh snow crab before embarking on a whale watching trip. What a glorious day! As you can see from Steve’s pictures, the ship captain knew where to find whales.
We spotted whales by looking for the spray from their blow holes.

Love! Was this your first whale encounter? I hope I have a whale encounter in the future. Thank you for sharing these pictures. ~ Lenore
Yes, Lenore, this was our first whale encounter. It was amazing. Later in the cruise, we did spot some whales swimming past the ship, but they were not this close. If you have an opportunity to go to Alaska, you definitely should. Between the wildlife, the mountains, and the beautiful coastline, there is always something amazing to see. Susan
WOW! Even from this far away, I got a chill just looking at your photos … I always feel closer to Him when I am outside and I imagine that, in Alaska, I’d feel the closest yet!
