“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” Galatians 5:22, 23
Love God and not money. “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.” Matthew 6:24
Joy comes from trusting in God; money does not provide lasting joy. “May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
Peace comes from being a child of God and having eternal security. You can never have enough money to provide peace and security. “Whoever has money never has enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with their income.” Ecclesiastes 5:10
Patience allows you to grow wealth over time and delay purchases until you have the money to pay for them. “Dishonest money dwindles away, but whoever gathers money little by little makes it grow. Proverbs 13:11
Kindness eases the burdens of others and points them to Christ. “Anyone who withholds kindness from a friend forsakes the fear of the Almighty.” Job 6:14
Goodness motivates us to care for those in need. “But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” 1 John 3:17
Faithfulness is demonstratedwhen we use theresources entrusted to us to fulfill God’s purposes. “And he said to him, ‘Well done, good servant; because you were faithful in a very little, have authority over ten cities.’ Luke 19:17
Gentleness compels us to assist others in ways that respect them and do not cause them embarrassment. “Brethren, if a man is overtaken in any trespass, you who are spiritual restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness, considering yourself lest you also be tempted.” Galatians 6:1
Self-Control allows us to rein in impulse spending and reduce debt and financial stress. God has promised to meet all of our needs. “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19
